Presbyterian Church of Morris Plains

Walsh Memorial Bell Choir Program

English handbells have been a part of the Presbyterian Church of Morris Plains since 1968. More often than not, one of our four bell choirs will be featured at our Sunday morning worship service. You may also catch them performing locally, regionally, and even internationally. It is not necessary to be a member of our church to join one of the choirs.

All four choirs including alumni from around the country performed at our 50th Anniversary Appreciation Concert on May 6th. It was an amazing event.

The Grazio Bell Choir is a group of adults who love to play bells together. As a group they play regularly within the church services as well as at various venues within the communities surrounding the church. They rehearse on Monday evenings at 7:00 pm from October until June. If you have some bell playing experience and would like to join come along to one of the practices.

The Walsh Memorial Bell Choir is a Jr. and Sr. High School Choir that has a long history of high standards in bell choir ringing. The group plays regularly within worship and also performs concerts locally. See more for more information.

The Mezza Bell Choir is for all age levels for those with limited handbell experience but some musical experience. Younger Mezza players aspire to graduate to the Walsh Memorial Bell Choir, and older Mezza players often move up to Grazio as they gain proficiency. The Mezzas usually practice at 8:15 on Sunday mornings.

The Cadet Bell Choir are for our youngest ringers. They are learning to read music and have no prior handbell experience, and must be at least in the second grade. The cadets usually practice at 8:40 on a Sunday morning.
